My husband and I are from Ohio and met at Ohio State.  Our jobs require us to move A LOT, so we have been fortunate to live in another country and 5 states (other than Ohio.)  But if you know any Buckeyes, especially those born and raised...no matter where you live, you are always a Buckeye.  So much so that when we found out we were having boy/girl twins, we named them Scarlett and Gray.  You could say they are Buckeye By Design...and the namesakes of the blog.

I was recently medically retired from the military due to an autoimmune disorder called Sarcoidosis.  It's been a long and rough transition to a civilian lifestyle.  Quite a few veterans are experieincing a hard transition out of the military...especially female veterans.  This will be one of the topics I discuss on the blog.  What the difficulties are as well as highlighting solutions or programs that are trying to help.

 

I gave birth to boy/girl twins in 2013.  Boy, what a life changer!  Raising twins is one of the most rewarding, challenging, hair pulling, heart stopping and heart filling things I've ever done.  We are still breastfeeding at almost two years.  I never would have imagined I would be breast feeding toddlers, let alone two!  We cloth diaper (and also occasionally use disposables), I'm constantly searching for deals, and always looking for products that work!  You can expect feedback from me in the blog on products that work (and don't), toys and activities that worked well for my kids at certain ages, and funny commentary on life with toddlers (and twins).

 

I am by nature a crafty person.  I have a Landscape Architecture degree and in the military worked as a Civil Engineer/Architect.  I love to get my hands ditry!  If I have the time (rare at the moment) and have the tools, I would rather make something myself than purchase something.  So there will be some crafty, do it yourself (DIY) posts here as well.  But be forewarned...I'm not a try to outcompete the mom next door pinterest type DIYer...I'm a make something functional and aesthetically pleasing for yourself DIYer.

 

I recently discovered Beachbody and the 21 Day Fix.  Needless to say the 21 Day Fix has been a lifesaver.  It has brought this momma back from the abyss of twin weight gain, momma self esteem issues, and eating my kids treats.  The protion control, clean eating, and exercise have changed my life.  It's making me healthier, improving my self esteem, making it easier to manage my autoimmune disorder, and allowing me to be a better mom through example.  I believe in it so much I've become a Beachbody Coach!  Come join me...coach number 607816!
